Cheryl LaTanya Walker served as the Director of Black Congregational Ministries for Discipleship Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee, retiring in 2017. She is a lay member of the North Georgia Annual Conference and a member of Ben Hill UMC in Atlanta, Georgia. In May of 2014 Cheryl received a Doctor of Humane Letters from Gammon Theological Seminary. On January 29, 2015, Cheryl won an Emmy Award for her work on the DVD Reflect, Reclaim, Rejoice: Preserving the Gift of Black Sacred Music.
